Announcement

This group will be migrated to the new design soon. Please contact the group admins to start the migration and save content the group may lose access to.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions should be made to the appropriate folder (Animation, Drawing, Digital, etc.) There is a separate folder for deviations done for a class assignment.

All art mediums are welcome, but please limit submissions to only the best works from your gallery. Original art only please; there are plenty of fan art groups on dA. In addition, any graphic or nude art should have the appropriate mature content filters. Explicit or offensive content (porn, racism, etc.) will not be accepted.

Currently submissions are limited to three deviations per week.

. . . what class had the greatest influence on you that was NOT directly related to your major? Obviously those classes within one's major are the most vital, but there's a reason why art students are required to take classes that have little or nothing to do with their major.

For example, I'd have to say Printmaking was surprisingly relevant to me, even though that art process has pretty much nothing to do with computer animation. It may be in part because I took it over the summer to lighten my senior workload, but I found it to be an extremely freeing experience in terms of creativity and doing art that I enjoy, instead of simply what I was assigned (the class wasn't very restrictive - you could do pretty much anything so long as you used a specific printing method). It gave my confidence a boost and spurred me to do more personal art on the side.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

A word of advice: do NOT put your 3D requirement (Sculpture/Ceramics/etc.) off until your senior year. I was an animation major, and although ceramics was fun it was WAY too time consuming when I was finishing up films. Get it out of the way before your last semester or two.
